APES SAY GOODBYE, LAST SHOW AT DE NIEUWE ANITA
For some of you this may come as a surprise, but after many glorious years of making music together the Apes are moving on in separate ways in music, film and sustainability. But what joy we had! Playing live in basements, people's living rooms, chapels, movie theaters, at campfires... and recording our album "We Got Time" last year.
It's hard to say goodbye. We would like to thank you for listening to our songs over the years, and welcome you to join us for our very last show on Friday, March 9, starting 9pm at De Nieuwe Anita, Frederik Hendrikstraat 111, Amsterdam. It will be cozy and acoustic.

A SUDDEN SIGN OF LIFE/LIVE
Fast forward to June. We've been busy lately, with lots of non-Apes-related stuff like traveling, making movies, getting married/injured/fired/promoted, replying to e-mails, hitting alarm clocks and calling faraway relatives. But this coming Saturday, June 11, we'll be back on stage, out of the blue, playing at hard//hoofd's Offline Festival, at VLLA, Amsterdam.
The party lasts from 3pm till 3am, with many other interesting acts, so come and bring your sister, or that old friend you used to hang out with a lot, but who moved to another town, and even though you both promised to keep seeing each other on a regular basis you haven't talked for a while, and now your only means of communication is the "Like" button on Facebook. Tickets are 10 euros, check hard//hoofd online for payment details.
By the way, this will be our last gig before our summer recess; after we return from China/Azerbaijan we might very well release our debut album, so keep checking this site, or "Like" us on Facebook to keep yourself apedated.

ALBUM MIX FINISHED, FOR BITTER FOR SWEET
Last weekend we finished mixing our forthcoming debut album with the incomparable Frans Hagenaars. Next, the songs will be mastered by Darius van Helfteren, after which we can start figuring out how and when to get that wonderful music to you, the people.
Next week we'll be showing our faces on stage one more time, before we go underground for a while to prepare for our album release tour and circus. So come all, and come early, to Bitterzoet, Amsterdam, on Thursday, January 27. Doors open at 8pm, we start right away, tickets are only 6 euros!

STUCK IN THE WOODS, FAR AWAY
After an exhausting but fruitful recording schedule in July and August we decided to catch some fresh air before we will start mixing our debut album in November. In the meantime we're working as lumberjacks in Siberia to make a buck or two, because albums don't grow on trees. Over yonder, we stumbled across photographer Károly Álmos, who took the picture below.
You can expect us back in town and in shape on Thursday, November 18, when we'll be playing at Winston Kingdom, supported by our fellow lumberjack Arthur Adam. We hope to see you there!

APES TO RECORD FIRST ALBUM, HERE BE LIONS IN A VAULT
Yes, it's been a while since we posted something new here, but we sure haven't been idle. This summer we will record our first album at Studio Sound Enterprise, with Frans Hagenaars (Daryll-Ann, Johan, Alamo Race Track) and Jan Schenk (Hospital Bombers, awkward i, Daily Bread) taking care of the production. We don't know yet when our debut will hit the market, but here's a little peek at what's to come. Last week we played our new song "Here Be Lions" at MixTup's vault, which resulted in this video:

AGENTS IN THE ORANGE GROVE THIRD AT STADSSPELEN
Last week we played a couple of songs at Dam square for the Stadsspelen, which earned us the bronze! And on top of this the list of ways to mispronounce our name also got a bit longer! Big thank yous and hugs to everyone who supported us!

APES SELECTED FOR GROTE PRIJS VAN NEDERLAND!
We just received the great news that we have been selected to compete in the Grote Prijs van Nederland this year! There will be quarterfinals first, and we will let you know asap when and where we'll be playing our new songs loudly and with gusto. We hope to see you all then and there.

LAST MINUTE SHOW ON 3FM
Last Saturday the three of us were walking around Volendam, thinking: "It's been a couple of months since we played on national radio; it's about time we do that again." And guess what: the next day we received a call from Robbert Jan, DJ at 3FM, asking us to come play at his show that same night. So we did, and we had fun. Hopefully next time we'll hear about it a bit earlier, so we can let you know beforehand.

KRITERION ELECTION NIGHT VIDEO
